Artist of the Month

Charlotte Arts first began recognizing Artist of the Month at Charlotte County Board of County Commission meetings in August 1998. Learn who has been recognized. Due to COVID-19, the last artist recognized was in March 2020.

• Rita Schwab: March 2020 Artist of the Month I love the abstract landscape where there is room to dream and imagine.  The viewer can find his/her own personal interpretation in the piece...
• Adrienne Lasky: February 2020 Artist of the Month I like to create multimedia pieces, incorporating acrylic paint with collage, pourings with portraits, beading, and flowers, giving my work an added dimension and creativity.
• Betty Beasley: January 2020 Artist of the Month Relocating to Florida and being a member of the Charlotte Art gallery has inspired me to create new works.
• Robert Broyles: December 2019 Artist of the Month I portray the beauty of nature in my paintings in an effort to raise awareness of the glorious world that surrounds us. Florida Flashbacks reflects the images I remember most from my childhood growing up in Orlando.
• Kitt Moran: November 2019 Artist of the Month I am an artist because I have to be. It's what gets me out of bed in the morning, that..and coffee. When I paint, I not only get to know my subject but I get to know myself better. I paint everyday, I sing everyday, and I learn everyday.
• Jesse Goodwin: October 2019 Artist of the Month "I am a career woodworker and stair builder by trade. I have been a woodturner for twenty years. I have trained with some of the worlds best woodturners. I love exposing the beauty inside of logs."
• Shelley Bell: September 2019 Artist of the Month "More than a picture"
• Gloria Urban: July 2019 Artist of the Month Art has been a lifetime passion for Gloria Urban. She paints primarily with acrylics and mixed media but experiments with different mediums, additives and textures to push the artistic envelope. Retired from Berks County, PA and living in Southwest Florida, her subjects are now the beauty of tropical landscapes, wildlife and botanicals.
• Betty Teramo: June 2019 Artist of the Month Wife, mother, grandmother, realtor, interior designer and presently a full-time artist who enjoys mixed media, alcohol ink, and paper painting.
• Christine Brunette: May 2019 Artist of the Month Christine Brunette is a seasoned artist who has traveled much throughout the world, and her love for God and His creation has given much inspiration for her artwork. She is as comfortable painting realism in oils, as she is painting with acrylics in mixed media work.
• Nancy McCune: April 2019 Artist of the Month "I tend to create statement pieces for a woman who knows her mind and her style… bold and beautiful in every way. ...From wire wrapping to silver and copper-smithing, I have followed the muse to learn my craft, discarding those techniques that didn’t suit my style and adding many along the way to enhance what I do!"
• Judy Cowan Lee: March 2019 Artist of the Month A local, experienced artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, with Honors, from Florida International University in Miami. She continues to pursue art as a vocation and avocation and is excited being accepted into about the Gallery at Towne Mall.
