Call to Artists – North Port, Florida
Native Florida Waterbird Sculpture at the Southeast corner of Price Blvd. & Sumter Blvd.
Location: Northeast Corner of Price Blvd and Sumter Rd

This call is open to all artists who are permanent or part-time residents of FL working in any three-dimensional medium. The artwork must include a native, Florida bird (e.g. blue heron, roseate spoonbill, sand hill crane, etc.) Bird candidates can be found on The Florida Ornithological Society website; http://www.fosbirds.org/florida-bird-list.htm
Proposals for outdoor work need to include materials and designs that are durable enough to last through potentially severe and hazardous weather, including tropical activity and high winds over a long course of time without extensive maintenance. Final installations must meet all current applicable codes. UV-resistant and rust resistant materials should be used. Artworks should be constructed to reasonably discourage theft and vandalism and must take into consideration the ground surrounding the piece. Include plans for nighttime lighting.
*Please Note: The proposed artwork(s) is/are intended to be installed permanently. The$10,000 budget is a “project budget” and is used for all related costs to the project including the artist’s stipend, fabrication, and delivery to North Port, FL. The work of art will be maintained and owned by the City of North Port, North Port, FL.
Participating artists must have reached a certain level of expertise and recognition in their medium. Their CV/resume should illustrate and include that the artist has completed other public commissions on a similar scale.

All proposals must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 11:59 pm, March 5, 2019. There is no application fee. Incomplete or incorrectly formatted applications will not be considered.
