Century: A People’s History of Charlotte County
This 270-page volume includes more than 500 full-color photos, charts, maps, and graphs. James Abraham, editor and publisher, produced Century as a labor of love to commemorate the county’s 100th anniversary.
The book is what Abraham calls a cafeteria-style read. Information is delivered in four ways: his own narrative, a chronology, essays from other historians or community experts and elected officials, and an assortment of full-color visuals. The forms not only complement one another but offer discrete entry points for readers to absorb history at one’s own pace and inclination.
“Century” is available on Amazon, at Copperfish Books in Punta Gorda, or by contacting Abraham at 941-258-4920.
