The first Punta Gorda Book Week will take place January 17-22, 2011, in downtown Punta Gorda. Daily writers’ workshops will be held Monday through Friday in downtown businesses. Authors will participate in Thursday evening’s popular Gallery Walk. The Punta Gorda Book Week finale will be an all-day open-air booksellers market on Saturday, January 22 in Herald Court Centre. The Saturday book festival will feature music, a writing competition, storytelling, face painting, art displays and writing workshops at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Herald Court Centre campus and the Artisan’s Atelier, also in Herald Court Centre. 10 a.m. New Age Literature at Creations Gallery with Priscilla Hurd, author of The 13th Goddess:A Tale of Atlantis.
10 a.m. Children’s Story hour at The Artisan’s Atelier with Mary Lou Williams, author of Fractured Fairy Tales
Tuesday:
10 a.m. History as Literature at Sunart Gallery with David Abraham, author of Aaron Burr: Adventurer, Bawdy Town and other works.
Noon, Children’s Story hour at The Artisan’s Atelier with Mary Lou Williams, author of Fractured Fairy Tales
Wednesday:
1 p.m. Writing Community History at Swiss Chocolate + with Diana Harris, author of Englewood Lives and The Hermitage.
2 p.m. Children’s Story hour at The Artisan’s Atelier with Mary Lou Williams, author of Fractured Fairy Tales
Thursday:
10 a.m. Writing About Animals and Dog Obedience Demonstration at Bisoux with Dawn Penwell, author of Adventures in Dog Training.
Friday:
10 a.m. The Family as Literature at River City Grill with Naomi Pringle, author of Ginga Root Tea.
Saturday:
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open-air Book Festival at Herald Court featuring music, writing contests, authors and booksellers. Writing workshops and writing contest at the Artisan’s Atelier and Florida Gulf Coast University’s Herald Court Centre campus.
