Artsensation Plein Air Festival

As part of Artsensation, the county's only all day, all art festival, there will be a Plein Air Competition on Saturday, November 5, 2011. First prize is $500. For the prospectus, call 941 764-8100.

Bayshore Bench Project

The Charlotte Harbor Community Redevelopment Agency and Charlotte County Community Services (CCCS) are pleased to announce the Bayshore Live Oak Park Bench Project. Artists are invited to submit sketches displaying the proposed bench theme. Benches will be provided by CCCS to the selected artists.

A jury of 3 will review the entries and select 10 artists who will participate in the project. One of the ten benches will be selected as the “Project Winner”, with the artist receiving a grand prize of $500. The final jury will select the winner based on completed work. $250 will be awarded to the“People’s Choice” winner selected by popular vote on November 19, 2011. Voting begins at 2:30p.m. and ends at 4:30p.m. A plaque will be attached to the back of each bench noting the artist name and bench sponsor. All ten of the benches will find a home in the Park.

Artists are responsible for picking up and delivering the benches. Artists are responsible for providing all paint and supplies to complete the bench. CCCS will provide each artist a quart of polyurethane to apply to the finished bench to preserve the bench. CCCS will continue to provide an annual maintenance coat. Benches
are 8 feet x 12 ½ inches, wooden planks supported by metal pipe.

Ten bench sponsors are also being solicited and one plaque recognizing the sponsor will also be added to each bench. Selection of the artists will be on September 1, 2011. Benches must be completed by November 1, 2011. Winners will be announced at 5:00 p.m. on November 19, 2011 at the Bayshore Wine Festival.

Martin Art Gallery

The Art Gallery at Martin Realty FLA, 207 E. Magnolia Street in Arcadia is calling to all visual artists that may be interested in exhibiting their work for the 2010-11Season and beyond.  Each year the gallery presents five or six showcases. The Gallery has exhibited works by quality artists since 2000. All visual media will be considered.
