It is with pleasure that the Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County presents its Artist of the Month for April......Jill Park

Painter Jill Park has been chosen Artist of the Month for April by the Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County. Jill was recognized with a proclamation by the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, April 13. Park’s work is on display at the Family Services Center, 21450 Gibraltar Dr., Pt. Charlotte.
Jill is a native Floridian living in Punta Gorda with her husband Randy. They have three grown sons.
Jill began painting in oils while a stay-at-home mom living in Tampa. Upon moving to Punta Gorda, she began taking watercolor classes at the Visual Arts Center. Soon she returned to college to finish her degree. While taking art classes at Florida Gulf Coast University, she took a small job as an illustrator for a coloring and activity book for children. Jill also participated in four juried student exhibitions.
Upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Jill became certified to teach Art K-12. That summer, she taught classes at the Visual Arts Center’s Summer Kid’s Art Camp. Her students enjoyed making papier mache turtles, brown bag sculptured turtles and flip books about sea turtles.
Jill writes, “Painting is an escape. All my cares, I lay them down at God’s feet and I leave them there. Making something new and adding the colors I like  is an investment of time that ultimately will be a lasting object of beauty years from now.”
Jill is a member of the Arts & Humanities Council and the Visual Arts Cente where she has participated in member shows. You will also find Jill at the Charlotte County YMCA where she is a Pilates instructor and Wellness Coach.
